Join us in saving water on your property
Save water throughout October – and win a pancake-event for you and your neighbours
Did you know that every Dane uses more than 100 liters of water – per day?
Water is a scarce global resource. Although in Denmark, we often take our abundant, clean drinking water for granted, it is vital not to become complacent about our consumption. It is imperative that we preserve our water, and we invite you to join us in making an eco-friendly difference.
By implementing minor adjustments in your daily life, you can conserve water, reduce your water bill, and make a positive impact on the environment. It is a genuine win-win situation.
Win a pancake wagon with your neighbours
By saving on your – and your household’s – water consumption, you automatically participate in a competition to win a pancake wagon for a cozy residential event for you and your neighbours.
Throughout October, we are measuring water consumption in the three properties on Teglholmen: Nordkajen, Kanalkanten, and Holmediget.
The property were residents have saved the most water wins.
Join the water saving challenge! We have collected a few tips to kick start the good water habits – It has never been easier to save water 😊
Good water habits begin here
We’re offering a helping hand to kickstart your good water habits – with these simple tips, you’re already well on your way to water conservation!
Turn off the tap
Switch off the faucet while brushing your teeth or shaving – it can save between four to eight litres of water per minute.
Shower with care
On average, each Dane showers for six minutes. By shortening your shower by just a minute, you conserve approximately 12 litres of water. Feel free to use an hourglass as a timer.
Use a bowl
When washing dishes by hand, employing a bowl can save a significant amount of wastewater. The same applies when rinsing vegetables.
Drop the rinsing
Simply scrape off food residues and allow the dishwasher to manage the rest. There is no need to prewash glasses and plates.
Fill it up
Ensure the washing machine is fully loaded before starting. Each omitted wash saves about 40 litres of water in environmental credit.
Chill your water
Keep cold water in the fridge – it provides a favourable alternative to running the tap, until it cools.
Look out for leaks
Thousands of litres of water can be wasted through dripping taps or a continuously running toilet. Attempt descaling the tap or cistern as an initial step*.
*First try to descale the tap or cistern – contact Heimstaden if the problem persists.
