Last year, all Danish municipalities introduced uniform guidelines for how household waste should be sorted – into 10 different waste categories.

By sorting thoughtfully, you can make a big difference for yourself and your neighbours with just a small effort – while also contributing to environmentally friendly recycling of waste from your household.

Did you know that:

  • Food waste is recycled into biogas and fertilizer
  • Consuming three tin cans per week for a year can be recycled into 156 doorbells or 113 new tin cans?
  • A plastic bag per week can be converted into 161 bottles of detergent or 547 garbage bags in a year?

Almost nine out of 10 kilograms of waste can be recycled – if sorted correctly.

Below, we have compiled an overview to assist you with your daily sorting.
